Design Philosophy and Reason for Use of Dark Bright Color

As I walk through the lanes of Seoul, I saw different paintings hanging on wall more so the walls are also decorated by itself with painting in Green and Red color. Green represents the fresh and youth full of energy other hand and the red are the symbol of passion. The traditional style and colors of painting on the roofs of royal palaces are called “dancheong”, which literally means "cinnabar and blue-green" in Korean. Almost all formal buildings and gates in “Joseon” Dynasty Korea were painted in “dancheong” colors and designs. I think they like green and red because they like to impose the natural color rather producing artificial color. At the edge of roof ends contains some symbolic creature called dragon. The Koreans, for centuries have lived with their distinct beliefs. The dragons are called Yong, with following main three types:

a. Protect the sky and is the most powerful, Yong.

b. Lives in the ocean and is hornless, Yo.

c. Dwells in the mountains on the earth, Kyo

The dragon has the belly of a frog, the ears of an ox, the eyes of a rabbit, the scales of a carp, the claws of a hawk, the feet of a tiger, the head of a camel, the neck of a snake and the horns of a deer. Koreans the dragon originated in their homeland, born with 81 scales lining its back and each hand and foot with four claws. Koreans consider Dragons are not only a symbol of identity, but are the essence of Asia.
