Korean Traditional Curved Roof

During the Jeasong Dynasty Korea reached to its pick in art and culture. The traditional tiles houses were the outcome of Chinese culture; those are commonly seen all over the rural areas even in urban area also.


































The important features of these houses are curve roofs covered by tiles. The tiles were made as such the roofs could be slanted to drain away rain water quickly. Actually the size and shape of the tiles are the crux for the angle of the roof and the angle is determined by the weather conditions of a certain region.








The curved shapes are also following for the entrance gate and pillar of palaces. The kiwas or tiles were made of clay from the rice paddy fields. This elegant curve lines are seen in garments subtle also. In fact curves are seen almost all traditional matters of Korea.
